  • Radio Day by the Bay 2018 – Live in Alameda
    Saturday July 21st 2018. This is our Giant annual event – your chance to hear live music from Radio’s Golden Age, see a radio play, bid on or purchase a radio from the past – 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s – and at great prices. Click for more information. This is a benefit for The California Historical Radio Society

2 Jul 2018 –
Back on 28 Mar 2018 (see below), KK6MRI made a posting about this on the class Slack Channel. A short Perspective Segment on KQED. A friend of mine, K6RJM, mentioned his radio club has a link to actual recordings from the Loma Prieta earthquake back in 1989 (scroll down and you will find four links). Someone had the presence of mind to record the event.

June 23-24, 2018
This coming weekend is Field Day! Many clubs around the Bay Area (near Berkeley, you have Alameda, Oakland, El Cerrito, Contra Costa County and San Francisco to name a few) will be sponsoring events where they will demonstrate various fun things you can do!

Commenting on this, if you attend any of the many radio clubs in the area, you will meet people who helped from this area during that and many other emergencies. It’s quite interesting talking with them. Also, if you have ever attended a marathon, festival or other civic-sponsored event, you may think the officials are talking on cheap Radio Shack Walkie-Talkies, but they are all licensed radio operators. -KM6NGX
